On Reiki and Ancestral Healing

As with all good things, if you haven’t tried it, you really should. I would recommend it to anyone, no matter how great you’re feeling and how much you feel you have it all figured out. And, on the flipside, if you’re in pain–mental, emotional, physical, spiritual–a Reiki session can help, a lot. This energy can help flush out your system, and relieve you of energetic imprints and generational patterns you’ve been carrying around without even realizing it. I give you an opportunity to speak about what’s going on in your life and what you’d like to address in the session, and allow plenty of room for what you don’t know and can’t name in words to surface and clear out as well. At the end of your session, I gift you with a treasure chest of information that I’ve received while running the Reiki. It’s always most interesting to see what comes to light.

I received my first three levels of Reiki attunements in Chicago with my teacher Tracey Ostrand. While I was pregnant with my daughter, I decided to be re-attuned to the Master-Teacher level with a teacher here in Asheville. I first started offering Reiki when I lived in Playa del Carmen, in the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico. This is super-charged Mayan land–there’s magic in the air. Some attribute it to the asteroid that crashed to the Earth in the Yucatan during the time of the dinosaurs. It was a major disruption that caused mass extinction of many plant and animal species (it is said to have wiped out the dinosaurs!), as well as a gravity anomaly. While I was there I soaked up lots of sun and saltwater, and I believe the Reiki I was running was influenced by the mojo of the land and Mayan ancestry and spirituality. I still call on the assistance of Ixchel, the principal Mayan goddess–of midwifery and medicine–during Reiki sessions.

All of this sound just a tad “woo-woo”? Yes, well, if you can suspend your disbelief and just stay open to possibilities, we can tap into the magic together. There’s a lot at work beyond the veil that we’re unable to see. It’s easy to forget about all of the help that’s available to call upon–our ancestors are aching to help us heal. And I can provide a bridge for you to receive that assistance.

A Little More About Me

I’m Alice. I live in Asheville, in the mountains of Western North Carolina, and I’m a mom to Inara, who was born January 23 of 2014. I am blessed to be raising Inara with Brian, who in addition to being a wonderful father is a gifted acupuncturist and musician. I realize it’s time to start reaching up for my guiding stars, grabbing on, and whizzing through the expansiveness of open space. Translation? It’s time to do my shit–I am a Reiki master/teacher, intuitive artist, and rites of passage facilitator. I’m ready to make a living doing what I love, and refuse to believe that it’s not possible–a belief that had me working many, many unfulfilling jobs in my lifetime.

I grew up traveling the world, and lived in India, Singapore, Seoul, South Korea, Dakar, Senegal, and Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The way our many cultures dance uniquely to the planet’s varied rhythms and pulses is what piques my interest, and getting to witness this is what makes me feel alive. Some other random, unusual details: I speak bits of Wolof and Taiwanese; I used to stop people mid-sentence to correct their grammar (but stopped once I finally realized that it usually wasn’t appreciated); I love a good bonfire and dancing under the moon; the ocean sings to my soul; I am a hopeless romantic, and have: given away all of my earthly possessions to travel to the Yucatan to live by the glorious Caribbean and be an artist and healer (I ran out of money while there and had to come back), and dream of: homesteading with my little family…with chickens and laundry drying in the sun and firewood chopping and kale, lots of kale. I am still a bit naive, despite having had plenty of opportunities to become completely jaded.
